I recall one of my first consultations with a group of psychotherapists who were part of a not-for-profit community-counseling agency. They found themselves in conflict over every conceivable aspect of their work together. They could not agree on referral arrangements, on management of common office space, or on ways to maintain their shared kitchen. They could not even agree on the consultant that they wanted to work with. After a lengthy process and multiple interviews, they settled on me.
