Chapter 20: File Organization and Archiving
A photographer’s photos are his most valuable products and should be backed up accordingly. Just think about all the stuff that would go missing if your computer’s hard drive would suddenly stop working right now!
That’s why photographers should create several backup copies of their photos, to ensure their treasures don’t get lost if it comes to the worst. To backup the photos effectively, it helps to develop a clearly organized system for naming and archiving the files.
20.1 Naming Files
Photos can be named by date, content, place, shot number and so on, or via a combination of this information. My system looks like this:
[year]_[model-name/s]_[rough_subject-description]_[file-number]
