At this point we encounter a cart-and-horse moment. Part 1 of story structure is all a setup for the arrival of what connects Part 1 to Part 2—the First Plot Point. So Part 1 and the First Plot Point (the cart and the horse) are tied together.

It’s challenging to discuss one without the other. So let’s first drill deeper into the structure and content of Part 1—because it comes first in the story sequence—with the understanding that it will make even more sense when we rip into a definition of the eagerly anticipated First Plot Point.
