Follow-up is the act of driving actions and commitments after they are created. To do it effectively, you must track the action until it is completed and make sure it solves the problem that it was intended to solve. It sounds simple but, in fact, this seemingly simple act is often overlooked, underdone, avoided, or even somehow compromised.

There is an unacknowledged crisis of follow-up in most organizations. Meeting after meeting, people set actions in place and, rarely if ever, are they reviewed to see if the tasks actually were completed, not to mention whether they solved the problems ...
