MISSION STATEMENT
One slogan that many corporations like to embrace is a mission statement.
Oen these statements sound trite and uninspiring, and contain mean-
ingless loy phrases that appear hypocritical because the organization
does not measure up to them. Language such as “providing high level of
service to customers” or “striving to increase shareholders’ value” sounds
impressive, but what does it mean? No corporation sets out to “provide low
level of service to our customers” or “striving to decrease shareholders’
value.” e test is if the words can be used in anybody’s mission statement,
