6.3. High Availability for Heterogeneous Storage Systems
Being able to utilize a heterogeneous storage system can be very beneficial for a large scale SM server implementation. The service operator is free to choose the most cost-effective disk drives on the market. However, the implementation of high availability techniques is somewhat more complex for heterogeneous systems because additional constraints are placed on the location of mirror and parity data.
In the following sections we will investigate these aspects and illustrate solutions.
