Gently does it

Practise what the Buddhists refer to as Loving Kindness. Think of it as your creative comfort food. Perhaps in your early years no one came to your rescue. When we were children we may not have had anyone to soothe our wounds or take care of our damaged egos so now, as the adult, it is your job to do the taking care of. Items on my list of small acts of kindness and tenderness include:

  • A hot bath with oils or sea salts
  • Spending an hour or more reading for pleasure
  • Solo trips to the cinema, museums, galleries, book readings
  • Buying organic foods for dinner
  • Spending a Saturday afternoon watching DVDs
  • Lunch at the weekend with friends

Now make a list of your own kindness treats and apply when you feel like some TLC.
