Chapter 5. The Modeling Process

In Chapter 3 we introduced the idea of using a modeling language as a step in the systems development process. We suggested that, instead of rushing immediately into implementation, developers will find it more effective to model what is intended first, review and modify the model extensively, and then use the model as a plan for implementation. In this way, we can change the giant step of proceeding from a bright idea to a running system into several smaller steps, each checkpointed by a reviewed model.
