Step 1: Install the JDK and Tomcat

In addition to all sample applications and third-party tools used in the book, the CD-ROM also contains a copy of Sun’s Java™ 2 Platform, Standard Edition, v 1.4.1 (also known as J2SE 1.4.1). You should note, however, that while Struts and Tomcat have been pretty well debugged for J2SE 1.4.1, we can’t ensure that all the other applications provided on the CD-ROM have. In particular, JBoss 3.0.3 had a few documented issues with it. To be safe, all the sample code and third-party applications have been tested and work with Sun’s J2SE v1.3.1.
