Throughout the Process
We all tend to be absorbed in the work in front of us, to concentrate on the problems and challenges of the moment, and to concentrate on what we can do about them. In this pressurized context we will predictably revert to our usual, preferred, and stylistic ways of operating and responding. What exacerbates this pull is any newly appointed executive wanting to do well and demonstrate that being chosen was indeed the right move on the part of the powers that be. Since our past successful assignments are usually the basis of our appointment to this new position, we rely on what got us here—that is, our usual way of doing things.
