Vision
A big source of frustration for us during our almost 50 combined years of thinking about transformation is how corporations, academics, and consultants have made visioning such an arduous and energy-draining task. We have witnessed arguments over whether visions should be 18 months or 5 years in the future, whether visions should be written in the present or future tense, whether they should be internal (we will do this well) or external (we will be better than others). Let’s be clear: Vision statements should tell us where we are going. The vision and the process of creating the vision should be energizing and not energy draining.
