Chapter 6. Understanding the RGM
In the early chapters of this book we laid out a basic foundation for cluster computing. Chapter 2 introduced you to the technologies of the Sun Cluster product. Chapter 4 outlined application guidelines that should be adhered to in order to make applications cluster capable. Finally, in earlier chapters we learned how to create some simple resource types using the tools bundled with Sun Cluster environment, namely the Agent Builder and the Generic Data Service (GDS). From this chapter forward, we discuss the APIs and requirements needed to create more sophisticated resource types.
