Starting, Stopping, and Aborting Data Services

The first three DSM script templates presented are basic methods to start, stop, and abort a data service, and are intended to aid in the development of the START_NET, STOP_NET, and ABORT_NET DSMs (refer to Figures B-1, B-2, and B-3). The START DSM was left out because its functionality (establishing the application environment before network connectivity is enabled) can be included in the START_NET DSM—prior to the START_PROGRAM being started by the pmfadm(1M) utility.

The start of each DSM script involves setting up variables and reading the configuration file. The remainder of the script determines what course of action is to be taken (based on the routine arguments and current state of the cluster). ...
