Chapter 7. Sun Cluster 2.2 Data Services

Data services sit at the core of your business application's availability because they sustain the highly available environment by means of high availability agents (HA-agents). The Sun Cluster 2.2 (SC2.2) HA-agents continually monitor the status of the application. If errors are detected, the application attempts to restart on the same node, or is restarted on the standby node (following a brief outage).

Note

A data service combines the functionality of a standard application (not highly available) and the monitoring functionality of an HA-agent.
