Communications Framework

The SC3.0 communications framework was written using an object request broker (ORB) framework. Security is not an issue because the ORB implementation is internal to the cluster framework. Cluster messages are not passed on the public network, only on the interconnect. Similarly, only cluster members receive ORB messages. Using a message-passing model creates a cluster with a framework that is more resilient to fault conditions because object isolation cluster recovery is isolated to the location at which a fault occurred. With object orientation, the ORB is easily expandable, thereby opening the framework to technologies such as EJB components and servlets.
