The network layer is the layer that is external to the physical host and operating system on which the Messaging Server or one of its components is running. It is surprising to see in this day and age of reasonable paranoia regarding basic network security how many customers are not actually deploying even the most basic network security measures such as firewalls. You may be saying, “of course we have a firewall!” OK, but is it just there for traffic between the Internet and your organization's network?
