Our industry is filled with wonderful agents who go it alone. We had one come to see us just the other day. Her name is Bobbie and she was one of the first agents we did a cross sale with 16 years ago. She had won a door prize for coming to see our listing on the luxury tour. We held the drawing afterward and then called the winners to come by our office for their gift.
JoAnn sat down with Bobbie to reminisce and Bobbie said she had been in real estate for 36 years. She was so happy for our success. We've done several deals with Bobbie over the years. JoAnn talked with her for about 10 minutes and then she was gone.
Afterward, we talked about what a sweet lady she is and how she had not changed a bit, which is a good thing because her clients are fortunate to have her. She is the consummate agent, puts her clients first, honest, competent, caring. She is a communicator, a motivator, a professional, and keeps good books. But Bobbie does it all herself. She has done it all herself for 36 years and she is happy but she makes about the same income, adjusted for inflation, as she did more than 30 years ago because there is simply a limit to what one person can do in a 24-hour day.
We believe Bobbie likes it that way. She is comfortable doing everything. Of course, she has a strong relationship with her broker, other agents, and her affiliates but when it comes to licking stamps for a mailing, she likes to do it herself. The only other explanation would ...
