3.1 INTRODUCTION TO VALUE CHAIN

A value chain is a set of activities which are linked with one another, and these activities create value. Supply chain is nothing but value chain, a set of value creating activities. Value chain activities begin with procurement of raw materials from vendors and end with distribution of product and/or services to customers, or customers’ group or end consumers. A value chain analysis evaluates a firm in the context of its value-creating activities.
