10.1 PURCHASING MACHINERY

Purchasing capital equipment is mostly a one-time but a complicated activity. Practically every department needs some capital equipment.

  1. An API manufacturer needs reactors, pressure vessels, mixers, etc.
  2. A formulator requires tabletting machines, liquid lines, blister packing machines, etc.
  3. Labs require several instruments such as balances, gas chromatographs, HPLCs, etc.
  4. The utilities demand boilers, diesel generators, electrical transformers, solar panels, air conditioners, etc.
  5. IT personnel need hardware and software.
  6. The stores/warehouse needs storage racks, material handling equipment, etc.
  7. The HR asks for furniture, water coolers, lawn mowers, metal detectors, ...
