Chapter 7

New Materials, New Structures, and New Technologies

Material design, development, and new manufacturing R&D are developing very rapidly. Some of the new materials are under animal evaluation and others are already under clinical trials. New production technologies such as 3D bio-printing can be applied directly in dental and medical fields. For the purpose of matching new materials and technologies, new concepts for building new structures have been advanced, such as gradient functional material through controlling porosity during powder sintering. In this chapter, new items which are not yet established well in the dental/medical area are introduced.
