14.1 Overview
Leaders in the measurement community such as Cronbach, Messick, Kane, and others have tried to invigorate researchers in education, health fields, and business to engage in deep logical thinking in planning and conducting their research under the banner of theory. A parallel campaign stemming from mainly the qualitative community at the same time argued for an increase in the use of mixed methods in research in a systematic and coordinated fashion.
