Stress can do really strange things to people - both physically and mentally. I have seen my friends and peers exhibit a host of ailments and some of the oddest behavior during their untenured years - particularly, near the time of the tenure decision. The way to avoid having your job ruin your health and/or your personal relationships is to spend the time that you need taking care of yourself. Each individual is different, but it is likely that you know of at least one thing that will relax you without fail and one thing that you can do on a regular basis to keep healthy. The key is that you must take time out to do them.
