10.3 MONEY FLOWS WHERE POLICY STABILITY IS PROVIDED
Global new investment in renewables rose 17% to a record USD 257 billion in 2011 (see Fig. 10.4).
This was more than six times the figure for 2004 and almost twice the total investment in 2007,
the last year before the acute phase of the recent global financial crisis. This increase took place
at a time when the cost of renewable power equipment was falling rapidly and when there was
