Abstract
Electrospinning, a widely-known technology for generating nanoscale fibers, has lately received widespread attention because of its several benefits, which includes large surface/volume ratio, easy of surface modification and variable porosity. Because of its versatility, utility, and simplicity, electrospinning is fast growing as a simple technique capable of creating different morphologies among a number of nanofiber preparation technologies. Herein, we described a brief history of electrospinning, the electrospinning method, and parameters and their impacts during the electrospinning process, like solution, processing, and ambient parameters. Furthermore, preparation methods for nanofibers based on electrospinning technology, pore formation mechanisms in electrospun polymer fibers, and various ways of modification of electrospun micro- and nanofibers are covered. We highlight the most recent and significant breakthroughs in electrospun nanofiber applications, with an emphasis on medicinal, electrochemical, environmental, and energy storage ...
