The three case studies show that the issue of sustaining and developing disciplinary expertise is highly relevant, and a topic that engages general managers and project managers, as well as individual team members. The question of knowledge breadth versus knowledge depth led to vivid discussions during the interviews. In all cases, the trend toward organizing for increased interdisciplinary problem-solving processes is clear, and the efforts to do so are highly influenced by principles of agile project management and Scrum methodologies.
