Chapter 2The Replication Server Architecture

Replication Server is an Open Client/Server application. Replication Server uses many asynchronous threads to communicate with and transfer data to and from the target and source data servers. Replication occurs in a typical publish and subscribe model with confirmed delivery. Source database users publish the data, while target database users subscribe to the data. Various connections and routes help transfer data from the source to the target. In this chapter we highlight the overall Replication Server architecture and briefly discuss individual sub-components or threads. Detailed discussion of connections and routes is provided in Chapters 7 and 8, respectively.
