Blocked or Unresponsive Ports
A common source of connectivity problems involves ports blocked by intermediate devices such as routers or firewalls. In other cases, the port may simply not be listening on the system to which you are trying to connect. To identify problems with specific ports, first refer to Table 5.1 to determine the ports used by the failing service. You can then attempt to connect to the specific port on the target system using the telnet
command. For example, to verify that you can connect to the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) Daemon service (port 69) on PXE enabled distribution point Charon.Odyssey.com, open a command prompt (Start -> Run, and then type cmd) and enter the following:
