About Applications

An application is the container used to deliver software, and contains the basic information for the application, such as name, version, application owner, localization information (for how the application is displayed in the Application Catalog), and how and where the content for the application is distributed. It also includes any references/dependencies on other applications, as well as if the application replaces an existing application. Here are the actions you can perform on an application:

• Distribute application content to distribution points.

• Deploy the application, either required or optional to devices or users.

• Create one or more deployment types.

• Simulate deployment, to validate deployment types.
