Preferred Distribution Points
ConfigMgr 2007 has a feature for branch DPs that enables the site to automatically distribute content to the branch DP whenever a client in that DP’s boundary requests it. ConfigMgr 2012 has taken that feature and made it available for all DPs. Consider the scenario in which you have a large number of DPs and a large number of packages. Depending on your environment, you may just want to send everything to all DPs to ensure that content is available when needed. On the other hand, you may have a limited amount of space and be fairly certain that many packages (or other content) will not be required everywhere.
