1.1 MOTIVATION: A BETTER APPROACH FOR GENERATIONAL CHALLENGES
Those of us with a passion for designing the next-generation ‘thing’ are always doing a good bit of forecasting and dreaming about the future. For us authors, our particular passion began in aerospace, motivating us to ask how we could create a new aerospace vehicle, equipped with a few yet-to-be-realized technologies, with the highest probability of success as perceived by the most interested stakeholders. It is this kind of desire, applied to challenges far broader than aerospace vehicles, that motivates the research and teaching we have done and the genesis for this book.
