The Functional Problem Space Model

This chapter covers the several pieces of the functional analysis problem space model. Later, in Section 6.2, we will combine this model with the three models covered in Chapter 5 to form one of three comprehensive models that can be used to develop any system no matter how implemented. At one time, this was the only real model available and was even used in developing computer software early in the development of systems employing digital computers. Many of the other models covered in this book were developed to replace the functional model for software development purposes, yet some of them actually continue to respect some of the key elements of it.
