3 The Systems Approach

Systems Approach is a general term for the process of defining and creating a system using the principles that are generally known as systems theory. The Systems Approach involves two other well-known processes known as Systems Engineering and Systems Architecting. The objective of this chapter is to clarify how these terms have been defined both in official literature and in surrounding publications. Furthermore, this chapter shows how these terms, Systems Engineering and Systems Architecting, can be merged to achieve the Systems Approach.
