Set Up Screen Sharing and File Sharing

The steps for setting up screen sharing with Back to My Mac are laughably simple.

  1. Open System Preferences, and select the Sharing preference pane.

  2. Now:

    • To enable screen sharing, check the box next to Screen Sharing.

    • To enable file sharing, check the box next to File Sharing.

When you select Screen Sharing in the Service list, none of the other options that appear—described in Share Screens Via a Bonjour or a Direct Connection—make sense with Back to My Mac, because you're connecting back as yourself and using Leopard's technology. If you're going to use Screen Sharing in other ways, or have other users of the computer, though, you might end up using those options.
