Connect to a Back to My Mac System

It's just as easy to connect to a target Mac that's using Back to My Mac as it is to connect to one that's sharing resources over a local network using Bonjour. In fact, on a local network, the only difference between a Bonjour-advertised computer and one that's using Back to My Mac is that you needn't enter a password for Back to My Mac.

To connect via Back to My Mac to a target Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Open a Finder window, and from the sidebar's Shared list, select the computer.

    The Finder window displays "Connecting" in a gray bar, and in the upper right corner it offers one or two buttons, depending on whether you have enabled File Sharing, Screen Sharing, or both.

  2. To connect via Screen Sharing, click the Share ...
