Disconnect from a Back to My Mac System

Back to My Mac is always available as an option when you have it enabled, and thus when you aren't using it and if your computer isn't physically secured—locked in your home or in a locked office at work, it's a good idea to turn the service off.

Your best bet for security is to log out of .Mac with these steps:

  1. Open System Preferences, and select the .Mac preference pane.

  2. Click the Log Out button.

In Take Control of Back to My Mac, I offer extensive advice on further removing all traces of Back to My Mac, and other security tips.
