Turn on Bonjour Viewing

Let's take this up a notch, and use the Screen Sharing program to discover which computers have just Screen Sharing enabled on the local network. The Shared list in a Finder window sidebar shows all computers with any sharing service enabled and that can be too broad for our purposes.

To add a Bonjour and favorites palette that appears when Screen Sharing is launched, follow these steps:

  1. Quit Screen Sharing if it's running.

  2. Launch Terminal (found in Applications/Utilities).

  3. Type (or paste in) the following, and then press Return (the \ lets you paste in two lines as if they were one line):

                defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing \
                ShowBonjourBrowser_Debug 1
