Learn Keynote Basics

Even if you’re a beginner, you’ve probably dabbled in Keynote at least a bit, so much of what I explain in the next few pages will probably be review. But I want to make sure we’re all on the same page (or slide, if you will) before getting into the details. So please indulge me for a moment and follow along as I walk you through some of the basic features, concepts, and terms you’ll need to know.

Begin by opening Keynote (in /Applications). When you do so, the Theme Chooser appears (Figure 1); if Keynote is already open, choose File > New to display it (I’ll say more about the Theme Chooser in Master Slides and Themes).
