Chapter . Brainstorming with Notebooks

Notebooks are a new feature of Word 2004. A notebook is a document in a style and format that has been popularized in Mac OS X by programs like AquaMinds NoteTaker (http://www.aquaminds.com/) and Circus Ponies Notebook (http://www.circusponies.com/). The notebook metaphor is an extension of the outline metaphor. A notebook consists of multiple outlines, with each outline expressed as a separate page. A notebook can also have sections. In most notebook programs, sections are groups of pages, but in a Microsoft Word notebook each section is a page, which gets longer as the outline gets longer.
