Regardless of platform, the Maps app regularly adds new and more detailed maps for locations around the world. With Monterey, Maps also gains several interesting new features, many of which also add detail, in one sense or another.

Use the Interactive Globe

Maps has always shown a flat projection, but now, if you have a compatible Mac and zoom out far enough, Maps shows a 3D globe (Figure 27) that you can spin with your mouse. (A limited range of latitudinal adjustment is also available.) Apple says the globe view features enhanced detail for many geographical features.
