The Basics of the Kindle Operating System
Amazon really wanted to make certain that they had a winner on their hands with the Kindle Fire. Not only does it give the user access to millions of books, videos, and music, but the icing on the cake is the Android operating system.
The Rise of Android
Android was a start-up company that developed its own open-source operating system for mobile phones. It was purchased by Google in 2005. Shortly after Apple introduced the iPhone, Google wanted a new mobile operating system and started a consortium of companies known as the Open Handset Alliance (OHA). The OHA membership includes several major players in the mobile industry, including HTC, Samsung, Sprint, Motorola, and T-Mobile.
