19. Case Study—Insurance Claims
The APEX Insurance Company (a fictional insurance company) has been selling casualty insurance for many years. APEX provides coverage for all sorts of casualties—fire, theft, flood, and so on.
The claims are settled by an adjustor. As part of the settlement process, the adjustor writes a report. Typically, the adjustor’s report contains information such as the location of the claim, who was affected by the damage (which is often different than the person making the claim), police involvement, the time of year the loss occurred, the exact time of the loss, and the size of the loss.
