Find Your Way around Your Mac mini’s File System
For each user account you set up, OS X automatically creates a structure of folders for storing files. Your home base is the Home folder, which contains key folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Public. The Finder automatically puts the most widely used folders in the Favorites category, giving you instant access to them.
You can create extra folders of your own as needed, but for most people the built-in folders are plenty to start with. To help you find your files, the Finder also includes a view called All My Files, which shows your files by their type or another attribute you choose.
