Upgrading to a newer version

Time goes by and the latest version number of the software goes up. Each new patch brings some new bug fixes. Minor version updates add certain features while major version updates could carry total revamp of the whole application. Keeping up with the times proves useful, so updating the TeamCity server to a new version might come in handy.

In this section we shall do a backup first, then upgrade the TeamCity server to a newer version, and then restore its data back. Beware that there's one more situation where the backup/restore feature might be helpful. It is when you need to physically move the TeamCity server to another machine without losing all configuration and history details of the builds.
