21 Hire slowly—and correctly

This chapter covers

  • Using smart resources, can you tap into the talent goldmine?
  • What can you safely ask, and what should you avoid, when conducting interviews?
  • How should you construct an offer that works for both you and the candidate?

One of my top management philosophies is to hire slowly, fire quickly. In this anecdote, we will be talking about hiring. Even though we believe in firing quickly when it’s merited, that does not make a bad hire cost less.
