A little over 100 years ago one of the most popular songs on the U.S. charts was a little ditty titled, “How Ya Gonna Keep 'em Down on the Farm (After They've Seen Paree?)” by lyricists Joe Young and Sam M. Lewis. It was a World War I hit that became popular after the war ended. The lyrics express concern that soldiers wouldn’t want to return to their families in the United States after having experienced the glamor and culture of Paris.
