Objectives of the Chapter

In this chapter we discuss some advanced topics related to model-predictive control (MPC). The main issues addressed are

  • Incorporating constraints in the control calculation.

  • Incorporating local economic objectives in addition to regulatory control objectives (LP-MPC and QP-MPC algorithms) when there are extra degrees of freedom in control.

  • Extension to nonlinear systems.

  • Extension to batch process control.
