Conversion
In the last chapter we discussed typical workflows for a TV broadcast operations center. Conversions between SD and HD content were illustrated by process blocks in representative system functional diagrams.
This chapter does not purport to explain the esoteric details of digital audio and video signal processing. The mathematical foundations and implementations are the subject of intense academic and corporate research programs. Equations and algorithms are presented only in order to illustrate the complexity of conversion processing. The interested reader is urged to find expert textbooks or course offerings that will explain the topics.
