Chapter 20. Mastering the Media

In this lesson you learn how to use your presentation skills to participate in effective interviews.

While you're working in an organization, you may be called by a member of the press for an interview. It might be conducted over the telephone and used in a radio broadcast, or the information from your interview might appear in a newspaper or magazine article.

You may be interviewed on camera, and your responses aired on local or national news. Interviews can be conducted for a variety of purposes:

  1. To provide background information for a news story

  2. To supply general material on your specific organization

  3. To focus on a controversial decision or project that involves your company

  4. To provide information about you
