Chapter 7 - How Data Rows are Stored in Blocks
“A book that is shut is but a block.”

Why Go Deep inside Data Blocks?
Tera-Tom books are the first book in the technical industry to ever attempt to use90% visualizations through pictures and paintings with very little verbiage.
Seeing the actual row and the overhead associated with it will allow you to think deeply about how a row is actually processed down to the bit and byte level.
Then, being able to see the actual rows inside a data block will enable you to visualize the data and the movement it takes to process that data.
Understanding how Teradata stores data in blocks and then how they are moved inside an AMPs FSG cache is the ultimate to performance tuning.
