Mathematical Tools and Microsoft Excel
In this section of the technical appendix, some mathematical tools that are useful for CRT development are reviewed. These tools will enable test developers to easily analyze examinee test data to determine item quality, as well as score validity and reliability. The use of summation notation is briefly presented in the context of simple examples, such as computing sums and means.
